This is going to be one great scene... love the waterfall effect... and yup... you should always do the wiring first... helps with not having to touch up track work... buildings... and scenery... but otherwise everything is looking great...

Lots of nice pics Dom... looks like you guys had a good time back there... yeah... those old mimeograph machines were a bear to operate... type on a special stencil... remove the liner... mount on drum... ink the machine... load with paper... turn the crank... then the messy part was when you took the used stencil off the machine... ink got everywhere... and almost never washed out of clothes... or cleanup rags... just threw everything it touched away...

Hi Dom-
Nice photos from Jamestown... but I think I caught an error... either by you... or by whoever may have given you the description for what you call the 'Model A Inspection Car'... In my experience in building AMC 1/24th scale plastic car kits... that looks more like a 'Model T' because of the high-back to the seat... windshield design... shape of hood and radiator... just a thought... otherwise keep up the good work... your site makes me wish I was back in the hobby actively...

Track work looks impeccable... nice base color for the background... anxious to see how you will complete it... when I did mine I used those ready-to-use backgrounds from Walthers' Catalog... but there have been many articles in many magazines that show how to hand paint them... one I found interesting was to project an image from a slide onto the background and then "color-by-number" it on...

As far as I know the only differences between the Platinum and the regular RTV silicone is the ease of use. The Platinum is a 1 to 1 mixture that is very thin, hence the thixatropic agent being added for the second step in the casting process. The other nice thing is that the bubbles leach out much easier than the regular RTV silicone, making it so you don't need to use a vacuum chamber or other special method of mixing. On the down side, it is a bit more expensive. Check out their videos at <a href="http://www.tapplastics.com/info/video.php" rel="nofollow">TAP Plastics.

I may have to give this a try (the TAP Platinum) .. is it that you get many more castings from one of these molds then 'regular' RTV?
